Recently, I was in New York City for the day. I have spent lots of time in that city and love it to death. However, in light of where my mind has been recently as a result of this renovation training at The Chapel, I was blown away by how the culture of the big city discourages any kind of relation or connection. The perfect example is the subway. Here’s an environment where dozens of people are literally inches from each other, yet no one is talking, no one is making eye contact, and that’s the way its supposed to be! I’m not saying I expect people to become life long friends through a subway ride, just thought it interesting that in a place where so many people are in such close proximity, there is virtually no interaction. Not sure what that does to me, but it’s on my mind.
